Like your Metronow reporter Nishant Ugal, I too experienced the trauma of ‘Chnese Torchure’. I left my South Campus office at 5-30 p.m. to reach Janak Puri. At Venkateshwara College, I was told to take a U-turn. The entire traffic on ring road was diverted to this side. The policemen on duty expressed their helplessnessto guide me to my destination. I returned to my office and started making frantic calls to my home and friends. Just then my daughter called on me and said she was held up at ridge road amidst traffic. She was heading to her office at Gurgaon. Finally I left for home at 6-45 and reached Janak Puri at 8-05 midst snarling traffic at ring road. And my daughter reached her office at 8-30.
Despite elaborae arrangements to protect Olympic torch, the authorities failed to protect the rights of delhiites to reach their homes after days work.

Respected Sir,
I’m sure you must be wondering that I have stolen your ‘Slogan’. But then the callousness and the apathy of DTC’s operations which I have experienced for the last 1 month after taking-up an assignment in Gurgaon for which reason I started commuting to Gurgaon daily.
I usually board from Adhchini Stop in the Safdarjung-Gurgaon Bus, which needless to say comes full and except for a couple of occasions where I was lucky to get a seat, most times I have commuted standing till Sahara-Mall.Morning Services to Gurgaon on this route is O.K. Yesterday one enthusiastic Conductor was claiming loudly that he has done a Rs.2,000/- collection today and the joy on his face seemed to reflect his duty consciousness. But evenings…it’s a different story altogether.Unlike Morning where the bus frequency is every 15 mts, in evenings the frequency is very less. You can get a bus in 1 hour if you are lucky. In between I got stranded at Atul Katariya Chowk from 7.30 p.m. and till 10.00 p.m. there were no buses and ultimately myself and a couple of ladies were lucky to flag down a call center cab and reach our destination. After that lesson I would generally take the bus from the Depot in the evenings.Yesterday I reached the depot around 6.45 p.m. and though there were 9 depaartures of Karolbagh, 9 departures of Bhadarpur,6 departures of Bahadurgarh and around 12 buses for Dhola-Kuan.There was not a single bus in sight of Safdarjung Terminal. On enquiry at the DTC Controller there…it was the often repeated story that 10 buses are in the repairs. One Conductor there claimed that there was a departure at 7.00 p.m. which perhaps I missed.I asked them to show me the schedule of Departure and the Bus No. which they didn’t. Then the Controller changed the story and was gruding that though buses are there the Drivers are not available.I have come across these stories earlier too and when asked to route some Bus,the controller would often say: In Inter-State Buses, they have no power to re-route buses.Since I had taken a dozen passengers along, suddenly they said that one bus No.2820 would be leaving shortly and we should sit in the bus.The driver who boarded was ( I reckognized) the same person who was lying on the cot on which the controller was seated.
So this is where DTC is making losses.I have personally experienced that the Drivers have some sort of a setting with the controller who supports their claim of non-functional or repaired bus or tyre-puncture ( there are so many excuses) and then they all gang up and lay the blame on DTC Administration.Yesterday they claimed that DTC has not recruited any Driver for these Inter-State Buses for more than a year and it is only due to their efforts in providing drivers that the services on these routes are available.
I would request the DTC administration to wake up before it is too late. The story is the same at Kapashera Border also. There are buses after buses No.728 – Mori Gate and DTC’s new fleet is competing with the Blue Lines there. The other routes are all but overlooked. If there had been a proper planning, DTC could well save a lot of money and come out of the red. But does anybody Care.? I went through the DTC site today after my yesterday’s experience and surprisingly in your complaints section too you have mentioned only Phone No’s. and Fax No’.s besides the location of Complaint Centre. On one hand DTC is claiming that their services are :- ”
DTC is providing an efficient, comfortable, reliable, economical and properly coordinated bus services to the commuters of Delhi and adjoining ”
But the reality as I have mentioned is starkly different.I don’t know if anyone would even bother to read this complaint at all hence I am marking a copy to Times as well as some other Media who can do a sting operation and expose this to the citizens of Delhi and the Administration which is sleeping.
On a recent visit to Ahmedabad in Gujarat,I was surprised to find a lot of youngsters at all the bus stops approaching passengers boarding/alighting and filling up questionaires.I enquired and came to know that they have been hired by AMC to do a survey to ascertain the level of comfort of passengers and also the profitability of the routes.
This is the difference……so mere slogans apart.DTC please wake up.You have a responsibility to the citizens of Delhi and the moment you take a step in this direction,I’m sure you will find that profits are there to be taken. But for that the lethargy needs to be shaken at all levels.
Warm Regards,
Stephen R Narayanan

This refers to Anjali’s story regarding acting in porn movies. In my view publication of such thougts may encourage many young girls to go for such careers. We cannot forget difference between good and bad in the name of acting.
