Cracks of doom

This is a rare incident. A flyover near Janakpuri district centre was constructed barely six years ago, but it has already developed cracks. Now, it is undergoing repair works but this is causing untold traffic jams during rush hours. The repairs, say the authorities will take about a week to complete.

Though this really may be a rare case, but Delhi is all dug up and the authorities are busy passing the buck. Translated in simple words, Delhiites be prepared for severe water logging and long jams as these potholes form a new danger zone. What do you think of the system. Is Delhi’s civic system ready for monsoon? Who is to blame for the mess that the city is now in? Or are we really in a mess? What do you say?

accepting the fact that the case is rare, but i believe that delhi isnot prepared for the monsoon and nobody is taking care of this state of the city. the ministers only show dreams of making delhi the second paris and one can see to how much extent the city has reached till the status of paris.our minister babus only know to give one statement “sarkar kaamkar rahi hai”.i hope situation improves instead of worsening.

Whatever the politicians may say, we are in a mess that will not go away in a hurry now. The entire system of administration in any sphere of life is totally rotten now. Rampant corruption, total apathy to the people’s problems, negligence of duty and responsibilities, lack of accountability etc. are so deep rooted, it would be impossible to sort the mess out for a long long time. Why only the drainage, look at anything that is in public domain and you will find enough evidence to prove it.

Frankly, all the so called progress notwithstanding, there is no national character worth mentioning. Loot is the key trait. A few good traits do come up in bad times and that too from the people and not the rulers.

We are on the wrong sign of the sine curve right now, the trough, and will not start rising unless we hit the rock bottom. People have started enacting Rang De Basanti once in a while in a small way but that probably is the only answer…THE FEAR OF BEING ACCOUNTABLE to people whose hard earned money pays the administrators’ salaries.

    Correction

In my earlier comment posted today, please read the fisrt line of the last para as follows:

“We are on the wrong side of the sine curve………..

    My apologies for the slip…

  • Indeed we are not prepared for the monsoon! This may be a rare case of a damaged flyover, but poor construction anyways claims lives each year as homes collapse over residents. Traffic congestion is nothing new in Delhi, but atleast precious lives should not be risked by the concerned authorities.
