With the twin purpose of finding a solution to Delhi’s growing obesity problems and to spare lifts and escalators at Metro stations wear and tear, the DMRC has come up with a novel ad campaign that wants you to use the stairs more often. The Metro lists 7 benefits of using stairs:
* Best way to reduce weight and burn calories
* Ideal for your heart & waistline
* Reduces blood sugar levels
* Improves your leg strength
* 50 per cent more efficient than lifting weights
* Enhances efficiency at work and improves body resistance
* Effective in increasing blood circulation
The big question is : Will Delhiites listen? What do you think of Delhi’s fitness quotient? Are Delhiites fit or fat?

No not at all the Delhities won’t listen at all. They didn’t even listened the traffic police to wear helmets how come they listen them. The delhities are people who are deaf and only do what they feel. They don’t listen to anyone. They are deaf and dumb and perhaps blind as well just can’t see what is right or wrong. As the Delhi’s fitness quotient there are people who are concentrating on their fitness rather then anything else. They are very concerned about their health, their diet ,and the way they maintain their diet is appreciated. They go to gyms and even do pranayam and yoga. I see people every morning ,jogging , running playing and even walking in parks and on roads as well. I see people doing yoga early in the morning just to make their body fit and increase the immunity of the body as well. As now days people are following baba ramdev’s yoga and are doing it early in the morning 365 days a year just to remain fit. We all will never see this health conscious people anywhere.

Ofcourse not, its been a familiar fact for decades that climbing stairs and walking are very beneficial for health, but it has not deterred people from traveling by means of vehicles to even wee distances, and eating junk food just as a symbol of their increasing purchasing ability.
There is also a class of people who would drop in at the gyms in their swanky cars & then trying hard to lose all that flab by jogging indoors for a long time at a stretch & end up being very much exhausted, a reason good enough for them to skip exercise for the week.
All of us are well aware of the inferiority complex one has to face due to a bad physique, yet we all have the prime excuse for not exercising, lack of time. One can spend hours watching the television with their family instead of opting for the healthy way of going for a workout together.
Fitness is not only about attaining a great physique like the celebrities; it is actually embedding it intimately into one’s lifestyle for long-term benefits.
