  • I’m really grateful for the article in the MetroNow dated April 17, 2008. The story emphasized on our law ‘enforcement’ agencies ‘breaking’ the law without being unchecked. It also showed how other police officials turned their heads the other way when one of their own violates the law of the land, but when they find a weak victim to harass they can make his/her life a nightmare just because they can. I hope these articles are read by those who can do something and enforce radical changes in the system. Hats off for the MetroNow team to follow these offenders and take awesome pictures even showing the license plate numbers.

  • A LOST MOTIVE……

A very well known fact that one can impress god by the services one does foe the mankind. It’s the deeds, actions and thoughts that are counted by god. Then why have temples lost their motive? Why have they forgotten that they are their to promote religious feelings and not to display wealth? After becoming aware of the recent robbery at YOGMAYA TEMPLE, I feel that expensive jewelleries and crowns should not be worn by god idols. After all none of us go to the temple to see how much wealth is worn by the idols of the god. In addition to this the donation boxes should be emptied before the temple is closed and donation exceeding a particular limit should not be accepted.

The murders most foul continue to intrigue and baffle the stiffest of investigators. Arushi and Hemraj murders defy logic. But one thing stands out that whoever commited these crimes did a good job of it. It may have been a murder not pre planned but certainly the post crime strategy of the criminal/ criminals was calculated and cleverly methodical. More then one month yet there is no clarity. I wonder what kind of briain is at work surely not your common criminal —-

  • Oil Futures and Our Future: Cracking the Energy Crisis

The future’s market plays an important role in a capitalist system. Its major function is to assume RISK. Through the function of the future’s market, the risks of production shifts from the producer to those willing to take on the risk ….for a price!!!

As the Congress, continues to investigate big oil over and over, one truth comes to the forefront. It’s the truth that through inaction on the part of the government, we now find ourselves in an energy crisis all over again

Today it’s the speculators, the risk takers, under fire along with the oil executives. The henchmen are looking hard to find someone to pin the tail on. But look as they may all roads lead back to the failure of government to protect the Indian consumer from it’s failed energy policies.

While they continue their rants to steal away “windfall profits” from the oil companies they’re not talking about “windfall government profits” through INCREASED TAX REVENUE which big oil generates quarterly. In fact, no one’s talking about it. Perhaps this is why no one in government even wants to discuss the tax subsidies big oil is said to receive. The thinking being, why mess with something that is producing so well? After all, it’s already a form of nationalization.

The cause of the energy crises is failed government policies. The cure has been clearly laid out before Congress in the past few days. But the question is, will they bite? Or will they continue their search for a bogeyman to pin the tail on? To take on the energy crisis as seriously, with concerted efforts.

I’m not against the Congress looking into the oil industry and possible price manipulation by speculators. It does no harm to have a ‘look-see’ now and then, to check under the hood to see if a wire is hanging loose. Personally, I don’t think they will find a bad connection there. I firmly believe the problem is in the engine. Government needs to create a proper spark, by whatever means, which are at its disposal, to ignite excitement throughout our scientific community to fire up the next great advancement in solving our energy problems.

Perhaps, for far too long, we have been waiting for the oil industry to cast a net that they aren’t committed to casting. Government’s role is to provide the means and the spark for innovation. Then step aside and let the innovators tackle the problem.

One great truth has repeatedly been stated by members of Congress: We are all in this together. Let’s not be wasting time pinning the tail on a bogeyman that does not exist when we can better spend our time and resources waging a war against our energy crisis. Our future depends on it.

How do I start blogging here?

  • Metronow has become such an essential part of my daily routine that sundays are extremely boring without this newspaper. They say “Well begun is half done!”, so why not the same for sundays? This is more of a request rather than a suggestion to please make it a daily paper!

Subject: Inconvenience to public due to wrong routes followed by drivers of Metro Feeder Bus Services

    Respected Sir,

I am Taresh Mahajan staying in Sector-6 Dwarka(complete address at the end), a very fine and prime sector of dwelling dwarka,my Society named Unique Apartments (Plot No.38,Sector-6,Dwarka) is located near the one of the most famous place i.e. sector-6 market in Dwarka. Dwarka as known is a developing place but lacks some basic facilities like transport services inside the sub-urbs,due to this reason even prime sectors here are not accessible. So if ones needs to travel here got to have his own conveyance or pay unwanted excess amounts to arrogant pickshaw pullers within sub-urbs. For people’s convenience Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) started Metro Feeder Bus Service from Sector-10 Metro Station to Nazafgarh, after watching the success of this service people staying close to Sector-10 Metro Station and the nearby sectors, submitted several applications(including me) to the Customer Care of Sector-10 Metro Station. So the luck finally shone and a new Metro Feeder Bus Service was started fron Sector-10 Metro Station to Palam Village and the route framed was Sector-10 Metro Station,Manbhavan Apartments,Sector 6&10 Markets,Unique Apartments,Skylark Apartments,Munirka Apartments,Ramphal Chowk,Sadh Nagar which was distributed in the media and appeared in many leading Newspapers, one being Navbharat Times (23rd July edition,2nd page). . After following this route for a couple of days the drivers started diverting the buses on the desired routes for which they found more number of passengers. This left us aghast because after so much pain and sufferings we got this service started and it became easy to access our society. We lodged a complaint at The Customer Care,Sector-10 Metro Station and we came to know that route was same, when we talked to the drivers they showed an arrogant behaviour and neglected us,next day i lodged a written complaint at the Station and at the same time,I was asked to speak to one of the persons on phone who was being referred to as incharge of all the Metro Feeder Bus Services in Delhi, the person told me that State Transport Authority has not given them permission to ply on the route, when I questioned him how was the permit issued before when bus started plying on rote,he became answerless. He assured me the survey would be done again znd buses will follow original route, but after so much headache and complaints no action has been taken yet, please help us, we are too tired and are being harssed so much for this.I hope you will take some action and help us as has been the strategy of Metro Now to help people.

    Thanking You

  • long back I was induced to invest my amount and made an instrument to encourage my relatives and friends to invest their hard earned money in a company , namely GOLDEN FOREST ,based in Chandigarh. Lakhs of people were entrapped in its attractive offers. But to our surprise, the company , registered with RBI , cheated the investors. The company owners were arrested to give a well defined SHIELD to the owners against the public fury . The investers wre given a so called soothing relief to inform through the media that the SEBI was looking into the matter and would , thus ,help the investers to get back the hard earned money .The SEBI through media, apealed the public to send the origanal certificares of investments so that it would fecilitate the repayments. This is almost five years, since then the inevestors have been looking forward to receiving their money , depended on SEBI’s sincere interference. What will be fate of the investors , SEBI can only decide now……..

  • We are subscribers of MetroNow and the content is refreshing with not just local happenings but also covering major international events – political, economic or sport. The plethora of crossword, puzzles et al is really commendable. But the last few pages portray picture of compulsion to satify certain quarters which is otherwise inexplicable. The ‘bare-act’ may be restricted as keeping the tabloid with last page on the front in the drawing rooms leaves very bad taste among children.

  • After the tragic events of 26/11, for the first time in years the parliament has spoken in one voice. The sense of outrage and anger is unanimous. There is no more shilly-shallying over the involvement of Pakistan, and no more playing the forgiving martyr.

Though this feeling of humiliation and indignation has triggered a wave of unity, the need of the hour is to channelize this force of fury into constructive action. Venting anger through violence is not the solution.
We all have to take responsibility for the direction we want the country to head. Good countries arise out of good denizens. We have to shed the sab chalta hai attitude and stop playing blame games and passing the buck, The extremely vital need of the day is to have informed and aware citizens, who are not only vigilant, but also can take control in an emergency.

  • A opinion poll conducted by TOI on 30.12.2008 whether installing Omar as CM of J&K will boost peace process with Pakistan, sounds funny. The peace process with Pakistan has been going on for 60 years now and let us not shy away to accept that we are still there where we started, with a few wars thrown in. I do not know if Omar has a magic wand with him. A big question is whether we have a political will do solve Kashmir issue?

  • Today we are living in a world of growing conflicts. War, torture, ethno-cultural rivalries and terrorism are rampant as never before. And though we have grown up with Mahatma Gandhi’s holistic theory and practice of non-violence and resistance that rejects aggression and violence to resolve conflicts in a constructive way, we sense a slow but growing recognition of the value of non-violence and aggression to solve them.

Nonviolent actions without the co-operation of the heart and the head cannot produce the intended result. Though we claim to follow the path of non-violence, failure of our imperfect ahimsa is visible today. The feud between Hindus and Muslims has been simmering for years. The violence that we have harbored in our breasts is now recoiling upon ourselves. The violent energy that was, generated among the masses, but was kept under cheek in the pursuit of common objective, has now been let-loose and is being used among against ourselves.

Agreed violence is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Violence should be avoided when possible, but unfortunately, in many cases it is the only option, because it’s the only way to prevent greater loss of life, property and self-respect.

I know it sounds quite contradictory, but that’s how it is.

Our leaders must know by now from past experiences that the opponents will repay by back-stabbing, treachery, terrorism and bombing in the name of goodwill and peace talks!

Indians have tolerated a lot. Enough is enough!

It is time to wake up and speak a language the other person understands!

  • I am really fed up reading every day in the press and listening to news on television of changing stances taken by Pakistan every hour of the day, our efforts of providing evidences of use of their soil for terrorist activities which will always be denied by them, approaches to US and other Nations of the world to pressurize Pakistan etc. etc., with no tangible results. I do not understand what is preventing us to take our own decisions and ‘act’. We have to fight our own battle. Other Nations will not fight it for you. Let us understand this fact.

I am not surprised that Pakistan has refused to accept the evidences provided by India. It was expected and our politicians should have understood before even forwarding the available evidences to Pakistan. Let us accept the fact that there are multiple power centres in Pakistan namely the so called democratically elected government, Army, the ISI, and the Terrorist groups. The democratically elected government can survive only until such time it falls in line with other centres of power and follows dictates. We should stop all these time wasting exercises and decide the course of action we think is in our countries interest and finish the non-sense once for all. I am really happy to endorse what Kalam has spoken recently that we should demolish all camps out side our borders breeding terrorists. I do not know why we should be pleading with other Nations to pressurize Pakistan and help us. Surely we are more than capable of protecting our mother-land and ourselves.

  • Messrs. Zardari and Gilani

I am not feeling guilty for not addressing you as ‘Dear’ though I am a perfect gentleman. I am sure you can guess why!

By now the entire world is convinced of the fact that Mumbai attacks were planned and directed from Pakistan whether you accept the truth or not. I am sure you must have read the famous say ‘to err is human and to forgive is divine’. We Indians are known to believe in forgiveness but then you must show the character to admit your mistakes and vow not to allow your country for breeding terrorists and for any terrorist activities in future. A very recent statement of yours Mr. Gilani that Why so much noise about Mumbai is not only inhuman, shameful but irresponsible and cowardice.

Mumbai attacks were planned in a very cowardly manner reflecting your character. You are known through History of attacking from the back as you do not have the moral courage for a frontal attack. Previous misadventures are proof enough and the beatings you got every time I am sure, you have not been able to forget.

We are a peace loving people Messrs Zardari and Gilani but not cowards and are more than capable of protecting ourselves and our country. We were pained equally for the loss of lives of our countrymen and our foreigner guests due to cowardice and heinous attacks in Mumbai. You must have heard that for us ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’. The loss of lives of these guests will always remain a painful memory in our hearts. Abhi bhi waqt hai sudhar jao.

  • Since Genesis, history is mute witness to traitors and turncoats of all types. It all began with Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve original Apostles of Jesus, most traditionally known for his role in Jesus’ betrayal into the hands of Roman authorities, for thirty pieces of silver. Centuries later we have a betrayal/fraud of Rs. 7,800 crore that rocked the world.

As always Soni Sangwan’s feature summed it up excellently. Definitely Mr. Raju is no petty thief and we all know it. After all how did the money disappear from Satyam and where did it go? And if Satyam fraud has politicians involved, there should be a special court and section to try him and his cohorts.

  • It was very heartening to know that the police agreed to file an FIR for a missing pet.

Some may scoff or find it absurd, but what they don’t understand is that for an animal lover, it’s not “just a dog or a cat”. The animal is a family member. With the loss of that pet, the family experiences a significant loss

A pet is often a member of the family. In fact, surveys show some interesting facts about pet owners: 84 per cent consider their animals family members, 99 per cent talk to their pets and 54 per cent celebrate their pet’s birthday.

The term “man’s best friend” brings to mind unconditional love, constant companionship and acceptance. Your pet can take you for a walk, listen when you need someone to talk to or even guard your house. A pet can also lower your blood pressure, change your heart rate or alleviate feelings of chronic loneliness.

With your capacity to love your pet it is natural to grieve the loss of that best friend. It is as traumatic as losing your baby.

  • Congrats on your Gurgaon edition. As the previous issues it is well presented. We are happy that finally Gurgaon has got a paper it deserves. A toast to the MetroNow team…
The future is a rainbow of beautiful tomorrows when you hold a dream in your heart! Congratulations!
